Last month, Paris Wine Company hosted its first annual Wine Weekend at Château de Barbirey in Burgundy. Rather than embarking on the Wine Tour de France like the last few Januaries, we stayed warm in the Château, happy to have our distributors and winemakers all in one place.
After a morning visit to Domaine Rougeot on Saturday, we spent the afternoon tasting at our mini salon in the Château’s barn with about 15 winemakers. The convivial mood continued into the evening with apéro and a family-style dinner late into the night, with plenty of wine to go around (including quite a few magnums and jeroboams). The next morning, with the snow falling heavily outside, we were relieved to not have to walk more than a few steps to the afternoon’s tasting, featuring another 15 or so winemakers. Sunday night played out a lot like Saturday, with most of us calling it a night a little bit earlier.
We had a wonderful weekend and wanted to give a special thanks to everyone who took part! Thank you to our distributors and winemakers for making the journey and keeping the energy and good spirits going all weekend long. Big shout outs to Château de Barbirey for hosting us, Beaujolais-based artist Romain Renoux for his killer magnums (you can check more of his work on his website, Instagram @rom1unik, and, of course, our poster), and chefs Manon and Romain for wowing us both nights with their cuisine.
Rumor has it that the Wine Weekend will return to the Château de Barbirey Jan 18-19, 2020 so mark your calendars now….
